Why are the soaps different sizes and shapes?

The Many Uses of SoapRocks®

Wash with confidence. Your SoapRocks™ are designed to cleanse, while preserving your skin’s precious oils. SoapRocks® transform your daily cleansing routine into a luxurious experience. As you gently work the soap under warm water, watch in awe as a rich, creamy lather emerges from these colorful gems. Exceptionally mild, SoapRocks® are ideal for sensitive skin, with many women using the soft, whipped lather as a shaving cream,  or as a gentle makeup remover (except for areas around the eyes). Men appreciate how their razors glide effortlessly across the light glycerin layer, ensuring a smooth shave with a hydrated beard. Many also find it works wonders as a shampoo, effectively cleansing and voluminizing without stripping moisture from their hair. Kids love bathing with SoapRocks® too, eagerly jumping into the tub for the fun of washing with gems. 



Many people find no need for additional moisturizers with SoapRocks. Notice the unique light fragrance of each bar as it freshens the atmosphere of your bathroom but doesn’t interfere with after bath perfumes or colognes. No need to  worry about them losing their beautiful colors and textures anytime soon, for, though they may go a bit faster in the shower, they are extra long-lasting in daily use at the sink.

Why are the soaps different sizes and shapes?

SoapRocks® have evolved, with some artistic license, into the many shapes you now find in our work today. The process of creating each of the SoapRocks® by hand, in over 180 steps, creates slight variations from the primary forms, which have evolved over the course of this companies life. 

During the evolution of SoapRocks®, certain varieties seemed best expressed in particular shapes, which then became that variety's primary form. Our original versions followed the mineralogy closely, and often matched the actual crystal habit of many of nature's minerals. Over time, we found that we needed to arrive at a balance between, reflecting the minerals' true appearances, and accommodating the need for the ease of use of the soap while washing. We settled on the forms you now see today, sculptural, easy to use, in beautiful stone shapes.

SOAPROCKS

SoapRocks® forms are variations of our Large-Sized, Pyramid, Crystal, or Marble shapes, each weighing over 6 Ounces. It is important to note, that each of the Gemstone SoapRocks® and SoapRocklets™ that you receive, is unique! Each is hand hewn, and requires over 180 steps to complete, thus colors and shapes may vary from piece-to-piece. The beauty is that no two SoapRocks® or SoapRocklets™ are exactly alike.

Our original versions followed the mineralogy closely, and often matched the actual crystal habit of many of nature's minerals. Over time, we found that we needed to arrive at a balance between, reflecting the minerals' true appearances, and accommodating the need for the ease use of the soap while washing. SoapRocklets™ forms are variations of our Medium-Sized, Pyramid, Crystal, or Marble shapes, each weighing over 4 Ounces. It is important to note, that each of the Gemstone SoapRocks® and SoapRocklets™ that you receive, is unique! Each is hand hewn, and requires over 180 steps to complete, thus colors and shapes may vary from piece-to-piece. The beauty is that no two SoapRocks® or SoapRocklets™ are exactly alike.

QUARRYBARS

QuarryBars™ forms are traditional, Rectangular Bar Forms, each weighing over 3.5 Ounces. It is important to note, that each of the Gemstone SoapRocks®, SoapRocklets™, and QuarryBars™ that you receive, is unique! Each is handmade, and requires over 180 steps to complete, thus, though the QuarryBars™ shape is always rectangular, colors and visual details may vary from piece-to-piece. The beauty is that no two SoapRocks® or SoapRocklets™ or Quarry Bars™, are exactly alike.

Our QuarryBars™ were designed for those who expressed a desire to have a traditional shape to use freely in the bath or shower, and is often purchased by those who had trouble parting with their SoapRocks® and wanted a bar they could let wash away more freely in utilitarian daily use.

Each of the Gemstone SoapRocks® also comes in various sizes, and each is unique! All SoapRocks® are hand hewn and shapes may vary from piece-to-piece, so no two are exactly alike. Often they suggest actual crystal shapes in nature. Our original versions often matched the actual crystal system of many of the minerals, but we found we needed to choose a balance between reflecting the minerals true appearance and accommodating the need for the ease of use while washing. Ultimately, SoapRocks® have evolved with a moderate degree of artistic license into the many shapes you now find in our work. We hope you enjoy the variety.
PalmStones™ are hand hewn sculptural pieces that are typically over 2 ounces each.
Gems-in-the-Rough™ are assorted smaller pieces of our SoapRocks® sold by weight in stand up pouches or in our Basket-O-Gems.
